Introduction to Trig

Hey guys it's Ruby. Today, at the beginning of class we did the usual and looked at the scribe from yesterday, which was gurvinder. Mr P. also showed us some updates on our homework page on wiki and reminded us about our mental math quiz tomorrow, and our unit 2 trig test on october 22nd. We were reminded about our quadractic functions booklet being due today as well as our iphoto assignment also on the 22nd. We also went over our first unit test and did the corrections.

We got a practice sheet of mental math so that we are prepared for the quiz tomorrow. An example of something that would be on the quiz would be

Factor:
a²-3a-10

To do this you need to factor the a² and figure out what two numbers ADD to -3 and MULTIPLY to -10
the answer would be
(a-5)(a+2)

The last thing we did in class today was the introduction to trig, we talked about trig functions and how those functions and quadratic functions have the same rules.
We also learned how there are 4 points on a unit circle, on 0° , 90°, 108° and 270°.It looked like the image below.
We learned that to graph sine and cosine, Sin x or Cos x function is 360° the absolute b value and the period for a tan x function is 180°over the absolute b value. Just as we were about to graph our first trig function time ran out, so we will continue tomorrow. I hope this was a good brief explanation on what we did today , enjoy.

QUESTION
Mr.P had a question today, it was why does a circle have 360 degrees? If you think you know the answer or want to give it a try, post it on your blog!
