(01.07.11)

Hey guys it's Luke :)

2 days ago, we continued to do those Systems of Nonlinear Equations Homework on the smart board for about 45 minutes or so... Then later on, Mr. Piatek taught us about "Graphing Linear Inequalities.

We did some examples such as:

1) 3x + 4 > 7

    3x > 7 - 4
    3x > 3
      x > 1

Remember: < and > is a dash line. While  and  is a solid line.

The other equation we need to remember is y=mx+b

Example 1. Graph 2x + y < 4

Step 1. Use the equation y = mx + b

Find the slope = -2/1 rise over run

The Y - intercept = 4

Step 2. y = -2x + 4

                (-2,0)

              0 < -2(-2) + 4
              0 < 4+4
0 < 8 (It is less than or equal to 8)

Step 3. y < -2x + 4

               (4,0)

           0 < -2(4) + 4

           0 < -8 + 4

0 < -4 (It is not less than or equal to 4)

Step 4: Graph

This is what it should look like after you graph it.

But without the smiley faces..

Well that's all :) see you guys tomorrow.
