Today in class we started off with Mr.P's usual Mac background that always has some kind of significance to it. Today it was a picture of a mountain where Mr.P grew up and it was all about the view that he had, in the picture there were many shapes and the mountain could look like a parabola! Today was September 30th and it was the terry fox run but not only that today was the day that is used to see how much funding a school will get based on the attendance that day, so the teachers were stressing the fact to get to class !

Next we talked about the iPhoto project and the deadline. Mr.P advised us the split the work so that everything would be easier. He also told us that if we needed a booklet for say probability he would give us one so that we could go over everything in that section.

After this we formed into our iPhoto groups and were given the review for the test on Friday ! The review included completion of squares when the x variable has a coefficient, sketching graphs of functions and everything that came before this, we also needed to know which number was responsible for moving the function left,right,up and down.

An example of 1 question on the review :

2n²+12n-74=6

1. Move the 74 - 2n²+12n=6+74

2. Add 74 + 6 -(2n²+12n =80)

3. Factor out the 2 and complete the square - 2(n²+6n+9)² = 80+18 (The 18 comes from 9*2)

4. Add 80+18 - 2(n²+6n+9)² = 98

5. Bring 98 to the other side so that y is left - and bring your answer to the square completion over - 2(n+3)² - 98 = Y
